Our Why

To enable engagement in life as one desires

Have you ever visited a physical therapy clinic where they spent 5 minutes with you?

You didn’t get to voice your story and concerns or collaborate on a plan to return to your desired level of activity.

Maybe you were handed a sheet of paper with a few exercises that didn’t challenge you or prepare you to return to sport.

Maybe your healthcare provider told you to stop engaging in activity.

Maybe you were told you need surgery to fix you.

Maybe you were prescribed medication with no plan of action to return to sport.

Maybe you were told conflicting information from multiple healthcare providers on what is causing your pain and what you need to do next.

As a profession, we can do better.

We are passionate about improving each patient’s health span and lifespan. Our goal is to create an environment that allows for:

  • Connection and Communication

    • Patients spend a minimum of 60 minutes with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. They can share their stories, fears, and goals without feeling rushed.

  • Strength and Conditioning

    • Therapists are dual-licensed with strength and conditioning crendentials. We offer fitness programs to not only return to baseline but reach your goals.

  • Health Promotion

    • Many things can inflluence the pain experience. We aim to create a positive environment for health by helping our clients adhere to physical activity guidelines, obtain sufficient quality and quantity nutrition, hydration, and positive social support.

How it works:

  1. Connect With Us

    • Prospective patients can book a complimentary discovery call to tell us their story, discuss their concerns, and explore treatment options. During this time, we rule out red flags to ensure they are a candidate for physical therapy and performance training.

  2. Assess Abilities

    • Patients then receive a comprehensive health and fitness assessment to determine their current status. In-person and virtual options are available.

  3. Explore Care Options

    • Once the assessment is complete, a conversation with your therapist occurs to discuss findings, educate, and collaborate on a plan that works well for you.

Multiple and affordable options are available to ensure accessible and high-quality health care.

Bio

Dr. Mariel Schofield is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She competed as a varsity multi-sport athlete in lacrosse and volleyball in high school. She was recruited to play NCAA division-one volleyball at the University of Miami (FL). She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine (2014) before continuing to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (2017) both at the University of Miami.

Her passion for health care was inspired by her experience living with type-one diabetes. She was frustrated with the medical system for the lack of education provided on how to self-manage her condition. What needs to be done daily to not just survive, but perform at a high level? Competing at an elite level with a chronic disease inspired her to explore the complexities of the human body.

During her time at the University of Miami, she developed her skills in exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and physical therapy. She specializes in the assessment and diagnosis of orthopedic injuries, communication, exercise programming, and rehabilitation. She spent her free time volunteering as a medical provider for Crossfit gyms and events: Wodapalooza, The Crush Games, University of Miami Athletics, The Guardrails Prevention Initiative, and the AVP tour.

Her clinical affiliations were spent in a variety of physical therapy settings ranging from geriatric and inpatient rehab to sports performance and orthopedics. She honed her clinical skills in treating a wide variety of sports and orthopedic conditions ranging from the acute post-operative stages to high-level performance. Her ideal client is anyone ready to make a change to achieve their desired goal, whether it be a grandmother trying to reduce the risk of falls, or a professional athlete looking to optimize their performance and recovery.

Dr. Mariel moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to help start a multi-disciplinary health facility known as Monarch Athletic Club. She served as the Director of Physical Therapy. During her time there she led and managed 2 locations, built the educational systems and foundations for the Physical Therapy Department, attracted international brand awareness through seminars and events, attracted clinicians from across the country to work for her, and built a community dedicated to improving patient care.

Dr. Mariel’s philosophy is to create a positive environment for health and longevity. Her goal is to help patients understand their condition with open communication and education, to provide active strategies that improve overall health and fitness, and to provide training guidance to get people back to the activities that they love. She is especially passionate about helping those with low back and knee pain. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, volunteering for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, playing with her French bulldog (son) named Potato, playing volleyball, lifting weights, and finding the best coffee shops in town.
